The installation Equal but not the Same explores the female body, the complexity of the female experience, and the uncertainty and pain that can arise from medical situations. Alongside close-up images, the installation features texts highlighting the painful experiences of women whose conditions have been overlooked or misdiagnosed, or who have experienced medical errors.
It is unacceptable that women still do not always receive the appropriate care and treatment because medical knowledge of the female body remains insufficient. Greater efforts are needed to expand this knowledge and ensure that women are no longer underrepresented in medical research.
Equal but not the Same places the female body at the centre, portraying the diversity of women who come together to represent the broader female experience. Each woman retains her own unique identity, yet together they form a powerful whole. The fragmented presentation offers a compelling reflection of how limited our understanding of the female body still is.
